గత సంవత్సరం ఫిభ్రవరిలో కరీంనగర్ నందు జరిగిన National short and documentary చలన చిత్రోత్సవంలో భాగంగా నవ కల్పనలు చేసిన ఒక ఉత్తమ చిత్రానికి ’నవతరంగం’ అవార్డు కమీషన్ చెయ్యడం జరిగింది. ’నవతరంగం’ అవార్డు గా పిలవబడే ఈ అవార్డు కింద ఒక మెమెంటో, 5 వేల రూపాయల నగదు మరియు ప్రశంశా పత్రం విజేతలకు అందచేయాలని నిర్ణయించడం జరిగింది. ఈ అవార్డు కోసం జ్యూరీ సభ్యులకు ఈ క్రింది గైడ్ లైన్స్ తయారు చేసాము.

1. First time filmmakers should be considered prior to experienced ones.
2. Does the film reflect creativity? Is it imaginative?
3. Does the work feel unique and fresh? Has the filmmaker created a compelling program? Is it accessible?
4. Will it appeal to (a national/local) audience? Is it well-produced?
5. Is the subject chosen reflect anything representing common good of the public or not?
6. If Fiction: does it have any substance or simply an entertainer?
7. డైలాగ్స్ తో కాకుండా విజువల్ గా స్టోరీ చెప్పగలగడం.
8. ఎడిటింగ్ లో ఏవైనా కొత్త ప్రయోగాలు చేసారా?
9. సబ్జక్ట్ కూడా ఇన్నోవేటివ్ కాన్సెప్ట్ అయితే మేలు. మొత్తానికి రొటీన్ కి భిన్నంగా అని అర్థం:-)

గత సంవత్సరం ఈ అవార్డు ’లోహా గరమ్ హై’ అనే చిత్రానికి బహుకరించడం జరిగింది. ఆ సినిమా గురించి మరిన్ని విశేషాలు ఇక్కడ చదవొచ్చు.

ఈ సంవత్సరం మార్చి 18-21 వరకూ జరిగిన నాలుగవ జాతీయ చలనచిత్రోత్సవంలో ఇంద్రాసిస్ ఆచార్య దర్శకత్వంలో వచ్చిన ’Living Beyond the Line’ అనే లఘు చిత్రానికి ’నవతరంగం’ అవార్డు బహుకరించారు.

ఈ సినిమా గురించి మరిన్ని విశేషాలు:

Living Beyond the Line is about friendship, transcending the so-called bars of age, generation gap or socio-economic and personal backgrounds. Set in Kolkata (Indrasis’s hometown and his favourite city) the plot revolves around three terminally ill cancer patients: Diptoban, a 27 year-old wannabe writer, Swati, a retired professor of English Literature, and Rajshekhar , a retired civil servant, who are introduced to each other in an on-line cancer community. An unconventional bond of friendship develops between them through e-mails and internet chats. They soon discover that each of them have a desire or dream that they wish to get fulfilled before their time comes. Dipto wants to see his name on the cover of his first published novel. Swati wants to once meet Amitabha her class-mate in university and the love of her life whom she has not seen for 35 years. Rajshekhar’s son has settled down in the US and has not come to visit him for 8 long years. In pain that his son’s negligence has given him and his deceased wife, he has cut off all ties with his son Tapobrato. Though reluctant to acknowledge it, his last wish remains to hold his granddaughter at least once in his arms. These friends surpassing their personal afflictions and physical limitations by their will-power join hands and strive to fulfill each other’s dream while keeping their efforts a secret from the respective person. Unitedly they start attempting to enjoy life in their own way. Are their dreams met were they able to achieve what they wanted to.is what the film is all about.

The crew includes Indranil Sarkar (cinematographer), Anusua Chatterjee (associate script writer and assistant director), Pranabesh Chandra (editor) and Dron Acharya (music director).
