NOTE: This article is just an introduction to the software and as it was written more than 2 years ago when the application is still in the early stages of its development. The actual software is updated to accommodate more features in the last 2 years. So please do visit the original site for more info and most of your questions will be answered from there.
I’ll try to add some troubleshooting issues that NT readers facing while using this at the end of this article. This is just to give a short answer to the problem, but there might be alternative solutions that do exist. So please do continue adding your suggestions as comments and will update the post accordingly.

celtx అనేది open source వారు ప్రవేశపెట్టిన script Pre-Production software. మీకు ఇంతకు ముందే finale draftతో పరిచయం ఉంటే ఆ అనుభవంతో celtxతో దూసుకుపోవచ్చు. ఇది ఉచితం కూడాను. ఒకవేళ మీరు ఇప్పటివరకూ ఎటువంటి సాఫ్ట్ వేర్ ఉపయేగించి ఉండకపోతే తెలుగులో స్క్రిప్ట్ వ్రాయడానికి అవసరమైన కొన్ని మెళకువలు నేర్పడమే ఈ వ్యాసోద్దేశ్యం. ఇది కేవలం నాకు తెలిసినది నవతరంగం పాఠకులతో పంచుకునేందుకు మాత్రమే. మీకింకా ఏమైనా జతచేయాలనిపిస్తే మీ సలహాలను కామెంట్ల రూపంలో తెలియజేయమని మనవి.
ముందుగా తెలుగులో స్క్రిప్ట్ వ్రాసేందుకు రెండు సాఫ్ట్ వేర్ లను install చేసుకోవాలి.
1.తెలుగులో వ్రాయడానికి barahaIME కోసం ఇక్కడ క్లిక్ చేయండి.
2.స్క్రిప్ట్ వ్రాసేందుకు అవసరమైన celtx కోసం ఇక్కడ క్లిక్ చేయండి.
ఇప్పుడు ముందుగా మనకు ఒక చిన్న కధ అవసరం. ఈరోజు ఆంధ్రజ్యోతిలో వచ్చిన ఒక జోక్ని తీసుకుందాం.
జోక్:
టీచర్: హోంవర్క్ లో మీ నాన్న హెల్ప్ చేశాడా ?
రణధీర్: లేదు టీచర్, అంతా ఆయనే చేశాడు.
ఇప్పుడు ఈ చిన్న సన్నివేశాన్ని celtxలో వ్రాద్దాం.
installation తర్వాత celtxని ఓపెన్ చెస్తే splash page వస్తుంది.
అందులో project templetsలో film అనే టెంప్లెట్ని సెలెక్ట్ చేసుకోండి.
{ స్క్రిప్ట్ వ్రాసేందుకు అవసరమైన షార్ట్ కట్స్ కోసం ఇక్కడ ప్రయత్నించండి. }
మొదటగా scene heading. ఇక్కడ ప్రస్తుత సన్నివేశం ఎక్కడ జరుగుతుందో వివరించాలి.
ఆంగ్లంలో దీనిని మూడు పదాలతో వ్రాస్తారు.
1.INT/EXT . ఇది interior లేక exterior పదాలకు షార్ట్ ఫామ్.
2.location. ఇది ప్రదేశమును తెలియజేసే పదం.
౩.time. సమయాన్ని తెలియజేయడానికి.
ఉదా: INT.CLASS ROOM.MORNING
అంటే తర్వాత వచ్చే సన్నివేశం మొత్తం క్లాస్రూం లోపల ఉదయంపూట జరుగుతున్నట్టు. ప్రతి సన్నివేశానికి ఈ scene heading తప్పనిసరి.
ఈ షార్ట్ కట్స్ ని మన తెలుగులో వ్రాసేందుకు Tools>options>Script లోకి వెళ్ళి INT/EXT words అని ఉన్నచోట ’లోపల,బయట ’ అని వ్రాసుకోవచ్చు. అదే విధంగా DAY/NIGHT wordsలో ’ఉదయం,సాయంత్రం,రాత్రి..మొదలగు పదాలను ’ జతచేసుకోవచ్చు. ఒక్కసారి ఇలా నిర్వచించుకుంటే మనం స్క్రిప్ట్ వ్రాసేప్పుడు ’బ’ అని వ్రాయగానే ’బయట’ అనే పదం ఐడెంటిఫై అవుతుంది.
ఇప్పుడు పై ఉదాహరణను తెలుగులొ ఈ విధంగా వ్రాసుకోవచ్చు.
ఉదా: లోపల.తరగతి గది.ఉదయం.
ఈ విధంగా scene heading వ్రాసిన తర్వాత return/enter కొడితే ఆటోమెటిక్గా actionలోకి వెళ్ళిపోతుంది. మీరు drop down menuను గమనించినట్టైతే అక్కడ కూడా సీన్ హెడ్డింగ్ నుండి యాక్షన్ కి మారిపొవడం చూడొచ్చు. { celtxలో సీన్ హెడ్డింగ్ తర్వాత action , ఆ తర్వాత charecter, dialog ఫాలో అవుతాయి.}
మనం ఒక్కసారి పైన ఉదహరించుకున్న సన్నివేశాన్ని వ్రాసుకుంటే ఇవన్నీ అర్ధం అయిపోతాయి. ఇప్పుడు ఈ క్రింది చెప్పిన వరుసలో వ్రాసుకుంటూ వెళ్లండి.
అ. scene heading అని ఉన్న చోట.
౧. ’లోపల.తరగతి గది.ఉదయం’ అని టైపు చెయ్యండి.
౨.return/enter కొట్టండి.(drop down menuలో scene heading నుండి actionకి మారడం గమనించండి)
ఆ. ఇప్పుడు యాక్షన్ ని ఈ క్రింది విధంగా టైప్ చెయ్యండి.
“టీచర్కి పిల్లలు హోమ్ వర్క్ చూపిస్తూంటారు. రణధీర్ హోంవర్క్ బుక్ చూపిస్తుంటాడు.”
return/enter కొట్టండి.(drop down menuలో action అలానే ఉండడం గమనించండి)
tab కొట్టండి(drop down menuలో action నుండి Characterకి మారడం గమనిమ్చండి)
ఇ. ఇక్కడ Character(పాత్ర)ని ఈ విధంగా టైప్ చెయండి.
“టీచర్”
return/enter కొట్టండి.(drop down menuలో character నుండి dialogకి మారడం గమనించండి)
ఈ. ఇక్కడ Dialogని ఈ విధంగా టైప్ చెయండి.
” హోంవర్క్ చేయడంలో మీ డాడీ హెల్ప్ చేసారా? “
return/enter కొట్టండి.(drop down menuలో dialog నుండి characterకి మారడం గమనించండి)
ఉ. ఇక్కడ Character(పాత్ర)ని ఈ విధంగా టైప్ చెయండి.
“రణధీర్”
return/enter కొట్టండి.(drop down menuలో character నుండి dialogకి మారడం గమనించండి)
ఊ. ఇక్కడ Dialogని ఈ విధంగా టైప్ చెయండి.
“లేదు టీచర్… మొత్తం మా డాడీనే చేసాడు.”

ఇప్పుడు మరో యాక్షన్(అదే సీన్లో) వ్రాయాలనుకుంటే return/enterని రెండుసార్లు, మరో సీన్ మొదలుపెట్టాలనుకుంటే return/enterని మూడుసార్లు కొట్టండి. మళ్ళీ పైన చెప్పిన విధంగానే(’అ’ నుమండి మొదలు పెట్టి) వ్రాసుకుంటూ పోవచ్చు.
పైన చెప్పుకున్న ఉదాహరణలో మనం పాత్ర హావభావాల్ని కూడా జతచెయవచ్చు. అందుకు parenthetical అనే toolని వాడాలి.
పైన చెప్పిన వరుసక్రమంలో ‘ఇ’ తర్వాత, ’ఈ’ కి ముందు ఈ విధంగా చెయ్యండి.
ఇ.2 Ctrl+5 కొట్టండి.(drop down menuలో dialog నుండి Parentheticalకి మారడం గమనించండి)
“ఆశ్చర్యంగా” అని టైప్ చెయ్యండి.
return/enter కొట్టండి.(drop down menuలో Parenthetical నుండి dialogకి మారడం గమనించండి)

పై విధంగా సన్నివేశాలను కూర్చుకుంటూ పోవడమే. మీ స్క్రిప్ట్ తయారైపోతుంది.
dropdown menuనుండి పై ఉదాహరణలో మనం ఉపయోగించని టూల్స్ మూడు మిగిలిపొయాయి.అవి
1.Transition : ఒక సన్నివేశం నుండి ఇంకో సన్నివేశానికి లింక్ చేసుకోవడానికి ఉపయేగించుకోవచ్చు.
2.Shot : షాట్ ఎలా ఉండాలో వివరించుకోవడానికి ఉపయోగపడుతుంది.
3.text: మధ్య మధ్యలో నోట్ add చేసుకోవడానికి వాడుతారు.
తర్వాత file menu నుండి save project as select చేసి homework అనే పేరుతో save చేయండి. ఇప్పుడు project tool barలో ఉన్న Script>Export Script option ని సెలెక్ట్ చెయ్యండి. మీ స్క్రిప్ట్ word formatలో చూసుకోవచ్చు. అలానే మీ .celtx fileని collaboraters ఎవరైనా ఉంటే ఎడిట్ చేసేందుకు వాళ్ళకు పంపించుకోవచ్చు.
ఇప్పుడు ప్రాక్టీసు కోసం నవతరంగంలో ఇప్పటికే ప్రచురించిన వినాయకుడు స్క్రిప్ట్ ని తెలుగీకరించొచ్చు. ఆసక్తి కలవారు ఒక్కొక్కరూ ఐదు పేజీల చొప్పున వ్రాసుకుంటే మనకీ అలవాటు పడుతుంది, ఈ స్క్రిప్ట్ ని తెలుగులోకి తీసుకొచ్చినట్టుంటుంది. స్టార్టింగ్ ప్రాబ్లెం ఉండకూడదు కాబట్టి మొదటి ఐదు పేజీలను అనువదించే భాధ్యతను నేను తీసుకుంటున్నాను. మిగతా భాగంలో భాగస్వాములుకావడం కోసం త్వరపడండి. మీ సలహాలు, సూచనల కోసం ఎదురుచూస్తూ..

PDF output:
Englishలో వ్రాసిన స్క్రిప్ట్ అయితే celtxలో ఉన్న ‘Type/PDF’ ద్వారా PDFగా export చేసుకోవచ్చు. అదే తెలుగు లేదా వేరే ఇతర భాషలలో వ్రాసిన స్క్రిప్ట్ని PDFలోకి మార్చాలంటే ఈ option పనిచెయ్యదు. మీరు విన్దొవ్స్ వాడుతున్నట్టైతే cutePDF అనే driverని install చేసుకుని print tool ని వాడండి. printer drop down selection లో cutePDW write ని సెలెక్ట్ చెయ్యండి. అదే MAC OS/Linux అయితే print tool ని వాడి save as PDF’ అనే option సెలెక్ట్ చేసుకోండి.
saving to word file or any other text format:
ఇది ఒక అనవసర ప్రక్రియ. wordలోకి convert చెయ్యడం వల్ల celtx వాడడంవల్ల కలిగే ప్రయోజనాలన్నిటినీ కోల్పోతాం. ముఖ్యంగా formating. మీకు MS Wordలో వ్రాయడం సులభమనిపిస్తే celtx వాడాల్సిన పనేలేదు.
writing telugu scripts in Mac OS and Linux:
ఇది కొంచెం కష్టతరమైన ప్రక్రియ. windows లో barahaIME install చేసుకుంటే అది celtx లో కూడా పని చేస్తుంది. కానీ OSX/LINUX లలో ఇలా celtx లోపల పనిచేసే font writer ఏదీ నాకు తెలిసి లేదు. మీరు lekhini వంటి ఆన్లైన్ సైట్లు వాడి copy/paste చేసుకోవచ్చు. లేదా SCIM input method లాంటివి వాడి వేరే word అప్లికేషన్స్లో వ్రాసి copy.paste చేసుకోవచ్చు. లేదంటే Virtualboxని install చేసుకొని ఏదైనా windows light version install చేసుకొంటే barahaతో పాటు ఇతర windows applications కూడా వాడుకోవచ్చు.
మీకు ఓపిక ఉంటే నేను తయారు చేసిన అప్లికేషన్ ఒకసారి ప్రయత్నించొచ్చు. కానీ ఇది ఇంకా శైశవ దశలోనే ఉందని మనవి. ఇక్కడ క్లిక్ చెయ్యండి.

నేను నావంతుగా మొదటి సీన్ని ట్రాన్స్లేట్ చేసేసాను. తర్వాతి సీన్ ఎవరు చేయాలనుకుంటున్నారో చెప్తే వాళ్ళకు మొదటి సీన్ పంపిస్తాను. మిగతా సీన్లు కూడా అక్కడే జతచేస్తే కంటిన్యుటీ ఉంటుంది. మీరు ఇప్పటికే మొదలు పెట్టి ఉంటే జస్ట్ కాపీ పేస్ట్ చేయొచ్చు.

Step 4: select “Telugu” in the side bar

లో మీకు inscript సాఫ్ట్ వేర్ అలాగే కీబోర్డ్ లే అవుట్ దొరుకుతుంది. దానిలో ఉన్న ఒక html ఫైల్ సహాయంతో మీరు off line కూడా టైప్ చేసుకోవచ్చు. అక్కడ టైప్ చేసింది celtx లో పేస్ట్ చేసుకుని ఫార్మాట్ చేసుకోవచ్చు.

I use SCIM input method on Ubuntu. I presume same should work on Mac as both are unix based systems. Install SCIM from this site http://www.scim-im.org. Then go to any text editor or celtx right click(Cmd+click on Mac) and in drop down menu select ‘input methods > SCIM input method’. Then you should be able to use telugu. The procedure is for Ubuntu, I’ll try installing it on Mac this evening and can let you know if there is any thing different has to be done by tomorrow.

celtx లో తెలుగు లో రాసిన దాని font size పెంచుకొనే అవకాశం వుందా.. లేదన్నట్టు గా నేను చదివాను.
ఒకవేళ ఆ సైజు మార్చాలనుకుంటే ..దానిని ms word లో కాపీ చేసుకోమని సలహా ఇచ్చారు మిత్రులు. అయితే..నేను ms word లో కాపీ పేస్ట్ చేస్తే..కేవలం బాక్స్ లు కనిపిస్తున్నాయి. office 2007 లో ట్రై చేయండి ఖచ్చితంగా వస్తుందన్నారు. అదీ చేసి చుసాను. అప్పుడూ నాకు బాక్స్ లు గా నే వస్తోంది. ఇదే office 2007 లో మహేష్ గారు చక్క గా తెలుగు టైప్ చేస్తున్నాననీ, అదీ నేను వాదుతున్న barahaIME తో నే అని అన్నారు. నాకు మాత్రం ఇలా ఎందుకు వస్తుంది..office 2007 లో barahaIME సహాయం తో తెలుగు నేను టైప్ చేస్తుంటే నాకు కేవలం బాక్స్ లు గానే పడుతోంది. నా సమస్య కు పరిష్కారం తెలుపగలరు. మీరెవరైనా మరే రకం గా నైనా ..celtx లొ script లో font size పెంచారా..తెలుపగలరు.

regarding font size. Do you mean the output font size or the editor font size. The second is possible just by changing the display option from 100% to 200% on the top right corner. I don’t know how to format the output to bigger format. I will do some tests and will try to answer that later.

నేను అడిగేది అవుట్ పుట్ సైజు గురించే శంకర్ గారూ.. పి.డి.ఎఫ్ లో ప్రింట్ తీసుకొనేప్పుడు నాకు కొంచెం పెద్ద సైజు అక్షరాలు కావాలి. ఇవి బాగా చిన్న గా వుండి, చదవటానికి సరిగ్గా అనిపించటం లేదు..
నాకు ఓ సందేహం.. మీరు డైరెక్ట్ గా ఎమ్.ఎస్ ఆఫీస్ 2007 లో sa అని టైప్ చేయగానే తెలుగు స అని వచ్చే విధం గా టైప్ చేయగలుగుతున్నారా..
ప్లీజ్.. ఏమీ అనుకోకుండా ఆ 2007 software తో పాటు ఇంకా ఏమైనా అడిషినల్ గా install చేయవలసిన వి వున్నాయేమో కొద్దిగా చూసి చెప్పగలరా ..?

default celtx output size is courier 12. this is sdandard font size for some hollywood studios, and there is no way to change it. when you write in telugu it renders the fonts to match that size, so the output is fixed. Did you print to the PDF as I mentioned. It is big enough to read for me.
regarding office 2007, I’m not sure if the Baraha input method works or not. Can you try this tool and let me know if thats any help. http://specials.msn.co.in/ilit/Telugu.aspx
