Stanzin Dorjai Gya లడాఖ్ ప్రాంతానికి చెందిన మొదటి ఫిల్మ్ మేకర్. ఈ మధ్యనే ఈయన దర్శకత్వంలో వచ్చిన “Living with Change” అనే సినిమా మన దేశంలోనే కాకుండా పలు అంతర్జాతీయ చిత్రోత్సవాల్లో కూడా ప్రదర్శింపబడింది.ఈ సినిమాకి WWF నుంచి సహకారం కూడా లభించింది.

లడఖ్ లో హిమాలయా స్టూడియోస్ పేరుతో తన స్వంత స్టూడియో ఏర్పాటు చేసుకుని లడాఖ్ జీవన చిత్రాన్ని తన కెమెరా ద్వారా ప్రపంచానికి పరిచయం చేసే ప్రయత్నం చేస్తున్నారు.

I am most happy to tell you the film called “Living with change” a film supported by WWF on the effects of climate change in Ladakh, the film has been released and it was well received not only in India but also at the international level.

The last decade has been a period of dynamic change for the region of Ladakh in India. The stability of this fragile Himalayan ecosystem has been threatened by pressures like cascading development and change in local calamite living their mark on the region, its community and biodiversity. The film has documented local community perception of the impact of climate change the speaks for itself as if showcases true-life account of people who live this change and talk about it most vividly.

It is my conviction that this film will help people to understand the climate change problematic and make them take action to mitigate it. I hope you will be satisfied  part of something of that could contribute to the society in general. I hope you will enjoy it and please send me your comments.

The Himalayan mountain system cradles in its lap, the unique desert ecosystem of Ladakh. Untouched by rapid development till recently, the nomadic and pastoral communities would live off the elements in harmony with rare species of migratory birds, like the Black-Necked Crane and mammals like the Snow Leopard, in fertile concentrations around their glacier-fed wetlands. However, the balance has been tipped in the last ten years. Unsustainable development, increased human pressure and climate change has created an environment which is no longer predictable to its people and species. Living with Change, is an attempt made by WWF to listen and record these changes as voiced straight from the hearts of the people who live there. The farmers, tour guides, local leaders, scientists and even those with a passion for Ladakh’s beauty have been approached and their stories have been captured. Through this 19min- long film WWF brings to you the people of Ladakh, voicing their stories of change.
