మీ టైటిల్ చూసినాక నాకు మొదట వచ్చిన ఆలోచన . “అవును అంతేగా మరి” అని.

ప్రతీ సినిమాలో నా పరువు నా ప్రతిష్ట అని విసిగించేస్తూవుంటారు. ప్రతినాయకులే కాకుండా నాయకులు కూడా అప్పుడప్పుడూ ఇదే ధోరణి పట్టడం ఇంకా చిరాకు తెప్పిస్తుంది. ఉదాహరణకు నేను మొన్నే భారతిరాజ సినిమా ఒకటి చూసాను. తమిళ డబ్బు శివాజీ గణేశన్ వున్నారు ముఖ్యపాత్రలో. ఈ సినిమా అంతా బాగుంది గాని, నాకు అందులో కూడా ఈ పరువు విషయానికి చాలా అనవసరం ప్రాముఖ్యత ఇచ్చినట్లనిపించింది.

అలాంటి సినిమాలు వచ్చేతరుణంలో, మన విశ్వనాథంగారు, ఇలా వ్యక్తిత్వవాదానికి (సంఘాభిప్రాయం కంటే విలువలే ముఖ్యమని) పెద్ద పీట వేయడం, నిజంగా చాలా చాలా గొప్ప విషయం.

సినిమాటాగ్రాఫీ వంటి సాంకేతిక అంశాలు ప్రక్కన పెడితే, ఇలాంటి కథ నడిపించిన విశ్వనాథంగారి గురించి ఎంతైనా చెప్పవచ్చు. అలానే కథాంశం విషయంలో దీన్ని కొట్టే సినిమా, తెఁలుగునాట ఇంకో వందేండ్ల వరకూ రాదేఁవో…

fountainheadని ఆధారం చేసుకొని ఒక హాలీవుడ్ సినిమా వచ్చింది. గూగుల్ వీడియోస్‍లో ఫ్రీగా చూడొచ్చు… హోవార్డ్ రోర్క్ గురించి తెలుసుకోవడానికి ఇదో మంచి ప్రారంభం. ఆ తర్వాత నవల చదివితే ఒక అవగాహన ఉండడం వల్ల బాగా అర్ధం అవుతుంది.

Interesting comparision. Roark denounces Keating as he is after “Greatness-in Other peoples eyes”, saying “He didn’t want to be great, but to be thought great”. He judges other people rather selfishly (sorry couldn’t find a better word).

Had Roark been in the shoes of Sankara Sastry in “brOchEvaarevaruraa” situation, what would he do ?? Shoot that guy ?? (Like he blasted the building Keating built in the climax, remember??)
