   మీ వ్యాసం చదివాక ఇప్పుడే మరోసారి మాయాబజార్ చూసాను.ఎప్పటిలాగే ౧౦౦% ఆనందించాను. నిజానికి ఈసారి మరింత ఎక్కువే ఎంజాయ్ చేసాను, సావిత్రి గారి మీదే దృష్టి సారించడం మూలాన.

   మీ టపా చదవగానే మాయాబజార్ లోని ఆహనాపెళ్ళి అంట…అన్న పాట చూశాను, అబ్బ ఎంత బాగుంటుందో, నాకు బాగా నచ్చిన పాట, “తాళి కట్ట వచ్చునంట, తగని సిగ్గు నాకంట, తాళి కట్ట వచ్చునంట, ధిక్…..”

   I am really impressed with NAVATARANGAM. I had a comment on my blog from Mr.Venkat inviting me to contribute to this site… I am really honoured. Well, I am not able to find words to express my excitement at finding this gem of a website from Telugu Filmdom… My excitement is not because of Telugu language per se,… but because of the fact that movie buffs that truly love Cinema as a medium seem to be hanging out here. I will certainly contribute if time permits and if you can bare my comments… But in any case… Congrats!

   By the way, Sowmya Garu… you seem to be true fan of SAVITHRI Garu. No qualms about that. She definitely is a great actress. But, having seen the world of movies (Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, English, Iranian, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, French, Swedish, British, Russian and a whole lot of other languages) and being an ardent CINEMA lover… I can just say one thing… it is utterly disappointing that we still indulge in praising ourselves. Instead we should be lifting ourselves from the depths of mediocrity. Let OTHERS do their work (praising). And let US do our work (lifting) which will eventually produce at least one more SAVITHRI if not more…

   NAVATARANGAM should be (in my humble opinion) about the heights that Indian Cinema and especially Telugu Cinema should scale. And indulging in BACK-PATTING at the drop of a hat is disappointing. Being Nostalgic is one thing and being stuck in a TIME MACHINE is another. So, where are we?

   I hope NAVATARANGAM… is roughly meant to be “Today’s generation”. Please correct me if Ia m wrong.

   So happy to see U here… I remember U for sure. Thanks for then and now. I wouldn’t have known this great site if it were not for U. I agree with U and feel that Navatarangam is bringing qualitative thoughts to the table.

   I have always been frustrated by our popular media on Television and Silver Screen and recently on the WEB. Our Print media, in my belief, is much qualitative or at least on par with most of the western world. I have to say that I am insanely obsessed to bring on a qualitative change to contribute not just a drop but substantially to Indian Cinema. Aside my bread and butter activities, I am building an array of WEBSITES that does exactly what I intend to do to act as a catalyst. I wholeheartedly congratulate the NAVATARANGAM team for doing great things in a similar direction.

   And talking about our Indian Cinema, with my earlier comment on SAVITHRI GARU… I tried to bring forth one of the causes of our ailing Cinema… “OVER PRAISE” This happens when we tend to see the world from inside a JAR. If not for this main cause… how can anyone explain the status of “SHOLAY” as a masterpiece when it is in fact a mish-mash of a bunch of Hollywood and one Japanese Flick.

   Some of them are:
   Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,
   Once Upon a Time in the West,
   The Magnificient Seven,
   The Wild Bunch,
   The Seven Samurai,
   3:10 To YUMA (Original in 1957. Remade in 2007 with the same name)

   Even a couple of SONGS were blatantly COPIED by our late great composer R D BURMAN saab. Demis Roussous’s tenderly sung “Love You Love You” was turned into “Mehbooba” and “O Jab Tak Hai Jaan” was inspired by Iranian singer Googoosh’s “Jomeh”.

   What is disgraceful is not the Commercial Success (I agree 100% that it is extremely well made and acted through out…), but the CRITICAL APATHY (still terming it as a masterpiece) our our Indian Cinema who tend to just do one thing… CHAMCHAGIRI.

   I know this is a lengthy comment… but please bear with me. And coming to the WEB, the leading WEBSITES from Telugu Filmdom are IDLEBRAIN (Alexa-2506) and GREATANDHRA (Alexa-2803). If Mr.JEEVIs (IdleBrain) reviews award ABOVE 3 STARS to 99.9% of Telugu movies that he reviewed so far… (a classic case of Chamchagiri), GreatAndhra thrives on cheap, vulgar and quite often the language that makes sane people PUKE…

   In the end… I hope Indian Cinema too has Online Media like IMDB.com, HOLLYWOOD.com, BILLBOARD.com, SPIRITUALCINEMACIRCLE.com… and many more. PASSIONFORCINEMA.com from India is one such Website. I sincerely wish NAVATARANGAM.com joins them.

    There is no camparision for Mahanati “Savitri” in the entire cine field either it may be tollywood, or hollywood. She is great. At the same time we must take the legends like SVR and Nagayya garu and Ghantasala. But here I would like to say that it is our luck, they become Telugu and they are unlucky that they become telugu otherwise they would have earned more fame in the globe rather than only telugu.
